At the core of YYY lies a critical tension: are we witnessing the disintegration of existing systems, or the emergence of new collective forms — or both, intertwined within an ongoing metamorphic process?
This question resonates across sociology, philosophy, architecture, music, and speculative thought, and is articulated through a performative language that merges sound, image, bodily interaction, and algorithmic processes.
YYY is an immersive audiovisual performance that merges visual arts, interactive technologies, experimental music, artificial intelligence, and corporeal performance. Set in a fragmented, semi-real universe, the work unfolds in three distinct acts, each designed as a meditation on the relationships between humanity, time, and the transformation of possible worlds.
(yy) The Present — Liquid modernity
The second act embodies the notion of liquidity—a world where permanence dissolves and certainty becomes increasingly unattainable. Audiovisual elements behave unpredictably: loops stretch and collapse, images fragment and reassemble, and sound textures fluctuate between coherence and noise.
Field recordings and video footage of water, captured by the artist in Canada, Mexico, and Spain, form a central material of this act. Processed and transformed in real time, these fluid sources reflect the disruption of natural rhythms under technological and social pressure.
(y) The Past — Constructed Utopias
The first act draws from the legacy of the Bauhaus, whose artists envisioned a synthesis of art, architecture, technology, and social function. This era embodied the belief that form could shape society, and that rational design could foster harmony and collective progress.
Visual compositions in this act emphasize geometric clarity, structured movement, and a sense of optimistic order, while subtle instabilities already foreshadow the fractures to come.
(yyy) Speculative Futures — Metamorphosis & Recomposition
The final act is deliberately open-ended, exploring multiple trajectories that oscillate between collapse, adaptation, and rebirth. Sound stretches time and perception, inviting introspection and collective listening, while moments of fractured intensity reveal beauty emerging from dissonance.
Audience interaction becomes central as motion sensors and real-time systems allow gestures, presence, and collective energy to shape the performance. Each iteration unfolds differently, sustaining a dynamic balance between individuality and unity.
